MONCAHIARD, MOCAYAR
An obsolete term for a plain or twill fabric of silk warp and wool weft, dyed black. It was manufactured mostly at Lille, Roubaix and Tourcoing, France, sometimes in very fine qualities and used for garments and furniture coverings. The twill grades were also called " Serge de Rome."
